Pastor Robert Monteith was stationed at Misawa Air Base with the U.S. Air Force
from August of 1988 until October of 1993. He started attending Faith Baptist Church
(FBC) and was saved in December 1988.
Due to limited available housing, Tammy and Alicia (then 9 months old) did not join
him in Misawa until March 1989. Pastor Monteith's faithfulness to attend church
with his family led to Tammy being saved that same month.
In June of 1990, Courtney was born to the Monteith family. That same
month Pastor Monteith was called to preach. Following his call, he began
taking Bible college classes under Pastor Michael Hearrell and worked in almost
every facet of the church ministry. In June of 1991, God called the
Monteith family into
missionary service.
After finishing his tour of duty and term of enlistment at Misawa, Pastor
Monteith separated from the Air Force in October 1993 having enrolled in Temple School of
the Bible in Chattanooga, TN.
In February 1994, Haley was born into the Monteith Family.
Pastor graduated from Temple School of the Bible in May of 1995 and was
accepted with Baptist International Missions, Inc.
Following two years of deputation or pre-field ministry, the Monteiths arrived in Misawa
on July 17, 1997 and Pastor Monteith became assistant pastor at FBC.
In December of 1997, Pastor Hearrell was called to go to
the Calvary Baptist Church in Aviano, Italy, and resigned as pastor of FBC. Pastor Monteith was called as pastor of Faith
Baptist Church on December 17, 1997.
